Responsibilities

  • Complete client evaluation based on an assessment of their needs and complete diagnosis based on DSM 5 criteria and level of care placement based on ASAM Criteria.

  • Complete individualized treatment planning with clients including initial, ongoing, continuing care, and discharge plan.

  • Refer and discharge planning with client and family, or oversee referral completion with the Discharge Planner, if available.

  • Timely utilization reviews and insurance reviews (or communicates needs to supervisor or treatment team).

  • Individual, group, and family counseling sessions that address the individual needs of the client, including relapse prevention.

  • Prepare and complete all necessary documentation and record-keeping.

  • Prepare individualized daily notes, showing accurate and personalized documentation regarding the client’s progress and/or lack of progress.

  • Conduct lectures on substance use disorders and co-occurring disorders.

  • Maintain knowledge of and adheres to The Walker Center’s policies and procedures.

  • Participate as an effective and contributing member of the counseling team.

  • Demonstrate knowledge and competency related to confidentiality and ethical standards of the counseling profession.

  • Attend continuing education classes and apply knowledge learned to work at The Walker Center. Share knowledge with co-workers.

  • Train, mentor, and guide entry-level/training counselors as assigned.

  • Work within a team setting- work effectively with a treatment team format, know how to work with supervision.

  • Obtain insurance authorizations as needed, provide requested information in a timely manner; track, document, and notify appropriate departments as required.

Qualifications

  • CADC certification/ACADC, QP per IDAPA certification or equivalent. 

  • Must be licensed or certified counselor

  • Two years’ experience treating chemically-dependent individuals using individual and group counseling techniques.

  • Anyone who is in recovery from a substance use disorder and identifies as a person in recovery must have a minimum of five years of sobriety from substances of abuse. 

  • Must pass pre-hire requirements including a criminal background check, UA, and TB test.
