EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing)

EMDR is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. The counselor works with the client to identify distressing experiences.

The EMDR therapy process works to reduce the distress associated with traumatic experiences.

If you have been diagnosed with PTSD, depression, or anxiety, or have tried other therapy routes with little success, EMDR may be a good option for you.

CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)

Cognitive behavioral therapy works by helping people identify and change complex and repetitive patterns of thinking that are ingrained over many years, affecting emotions and driving behavior. CBT is an intervention method that changes the way clients think about themselves and their surroundings.

In these sessions, therapists will help you identify these problematic thoughts, feelings, and behaviors then challenge you to find alternative ways of managing them.

CBT is a widely accepted evidence-based practice for depression, anxiety, and substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a type of cognitive-behavioral therapy that provides a greater focus on social and emotional elements. It was developed to create a way to help people with extreme or unstable emotions and the problematic behaviors that accompanied them. Created by celebrated psychotherapist Marsha Linehan, it's composed of four main branches: Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotional Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness. A typical DBT session will include learning about a particular skill related to one of the four modules, practicing it with the therapist or partner in a group session, and assessing weekly progress. Depending on the frequency of sessions, completing a full course of DBT can take from four weeks to six months. If you have been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder, PTSD, severe depression, or SUD (Substance Use Disorder) then DBT may be effective for you.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational interviewing is a focused, directive, and client-centered counseling method that involves supporting a client’s motivation to change. Motivational interviewing essentially creates behavior change by helping clients resolve ambivalence and explore opportunities to change their lives for the better.

This is a strengths-based approach with the therapist and client collaborating on change strategies. This can be used in conjunction with other techniques to help the client visualize their ability to make changes.

This treatment type is recommended for depression, anxiety, and substance abuse.
