What to bring - What not to bring

What to bring to treatment

  1. Your own pillow, bedspread, or comforter for comfort. Clothing: Casual clothing including a sweater, jacket, pajamas, walking shoes or athletic shoes for exercise. During the colder season, bring a coat, jacket, stocking cap, gloves, warm socks, sweatshirts, long johns or warm boots. Clothing must not have addiction related or suggestive images or graphics. See clothing restrictions below.

  2. Long-distance calling cards.

  3. The laundry facility is available at no charge.  Soap and fabric softener is available.  If sensitive to soaps, you may bring your own. Bleach and ammonia products are not allowed.

  4. Prescriptions: Fill all prescriptions before coming to treatment. Gabapentin, Suboxone and/or Buprenorphine are the only accepted prescribed controlled substances that can be brought to treatment. Any other prescribed controlled substance that is brought to treatment must be sent home with your family, friend or destroyed. Contact your provider or pharmacy if you are unsure if your prescription is a controlled substance. All over-the-counter medications must be UNOPENED! No samples of prescriptions are allowed. All vitamins and supplements must be new and sealed in the original packaging. Bring cash or a credit card to use for any co-payment required for prescription medications and refills.

  5. Please bring personal insurance cards and information, identification, contact information of whom to contact in an emergency, the telephone number of your primary care provider and the telephone number of your attorney.

  6. Personal grooming items:  Electric or disposable razors and shaving cream are allowed.  Any personal care item with alcohol listed in the top 3 ingredients will not be allowed due to the potential for it being used as an addictive substance.  For instance, mouthwash may not be permitted because of its alcohol content.

  7. Alarm clock.

  8. Nicotine: Chew tobacco pouches must be 3 milligrams or less.  No loose chewing tobacco.  Unopened cigarettes only; open packs of cigarettes will not be accepted.  No Vapes, vape-related products, electronic cigarettes, or American Spirits. Nicotine patches or lozenges are acceptable, but no gum.

The Walker Center is unable to cash checks. Bring enough money to pay for any medications that may be needed. Money may be added on your account for miscellaneous purchases such as Walker Center merchandise or incidentals.
