Outpatient Rehab and Treatment

Outpatient drug and alcohol rehab at The Walker Center is individually designed to assist you in starting the path to recovery while staying in your home and community. If you are tired of the consequences associated with your use, contact us, as we know how to help. Not everyone needs the intensive treatment associated with inpatient rehab where you stay 24/7.

The outpatient program at The Walker Center offers individuals and their family members options based on need to start on the path to sobriety and recovery. The Motivated evidenced based treatment approaches offer individuals the opportunity to receive individualized treatment while taking into consideration of your home, work and school responsibilities. Of course, each situation is unique. Your individual treatment plan starts by calling for an assessment.

Outpatient recovery programs can be low intensity outpatient as little as 2-4 hours per week or intensive outpatient treatment 3 hours per day for 3-4 days per week based on assessment. All outpatient treatment has family counseling groups to help restore the entire family to health after the impact on relationships due to addiction. Outpatient drug rehab can last three to six months and continuum of care is offered for a lifetime through our alumni support groups that are weekly free of charge for those completing treatment.

I will be celebrating three years of being clean and sober… I am so blessed to have had the opportunity to experience treatment at Walker and I am eternally grateful.

Outpatient Detox Programs

Treatment Starts with a Drug & Alcohol Assessment

At the beginning of the treatment process, we provide you with a comprehensive evaluation. This information drives the treatment process and allows us to create a customized treatment plan specific to your needs. We also take action to reduce the barriers to treatment as much as possible. Once we have completed your evaluation, you’ll be educated regarding your diagnosis and treatment recommendations and then referred into one of our programs. The typical evaluation questions include the following.

Evaluation questions

  • Your use history (to understand your potential for withdrawal)

  • Your medical conditions

  • Emotional and behavioral conditions

  • Your readiness to change

  • Strengths and needs

  • Family history and current environment

  • Collateral information from doctors, counselors, family members, legal

  • Relapse potential

  • Potential barriers to recovery (like lack of transportation, childcare, housing, probation, family members)

Next Step: Start an Outpatient Rehab Program

High-Intensity Outpatient Program

The high-intensity outpatient rehab program emphasizes the use of cognitive behavioral approaches and education to increase your probability of staying away from drugs or alcohol and decrease your chances of relapsing. We help you understand “addiction as a disease model” and familiarize you with 12-step programs. During this treatment, we also focus on family codependency counseling, problem-solving skills, stress management, and family communication skills.

Low-Intensity Outpatient Program

The low-intensity outpatient program is designed for clients who are in the early stages of change or those who are not yet ready to commit to full recovery. The client will understand the compromises and changes needed to be made for recovery. This treatment also places emphasis on skill development, motivational interventions, familiarization with 12-step programs, counseling, stress management, family communication skills, and problem-solving skills. Drug testing is required to help clients gain accountability and provide structure.

Anger Management and Coping with Intense Emotions

This treatment plan is beneficial for those with or without a substance use disorder. It’s specifically geared towards people coping with anger and intense emotions. The plan focuses on creating an internal dialogue to manage those emotions and incorporate skills to manage high-stress situations, allowing you to take control of your emotions.

The format of this group is interactive. The goal is to encourage discussion and share your emotions with others who are going through a similar situation. We do this while helping you implement strategies that are proven to result in long-term change.

Individual Treatment

We also incorporate individual sessions into the treatment plan to address issues specific to your needs. If there are cultural, language, developmental, or other treatment needs such as mental health or physical health concerns, these can be addressed in the one-on-one sessions. One thing to note is that the majority of successful treatment occurs in group sessions.

Relapse Prevention Treatment

This treatment plan is designed to deliver information, support, and skills development to those proceeding through recovery. Here, you will learn to address the specific situations you believe have relapse potential. By doing so, you can take control of the situations, implement skills to avoid them, and learn how to use sober support to stay on track.

Moral Recognition Therapy (MRT) Treatment

MRT is a systematic, step-by-step treatment strategy designed to enhance your self-image and promote the growth of a positive, productive self-identity. The overall goal is to help you improve your moral reasoning skills so you can live a happier, more positive life. MRT has been determined to significantly raise moral reasoning levels, life purpose, and other positive personality variables. The Walker Center uses the How to Escape Your Prison, MRT workbook by Little and Robinson.

Case Management

Case Management is a collaborative process that helps individuals and families establish and maintain balance in daily life. Planning, care coordination, evaluation, and advocacy for options and services to meet an individual's, and family’s comprehensive needs are the primary focuses of case management. Case management at the Walker Center is to serve as a means for achieving client wellness and autonomy through communication, education, and identification of resources. The case managers help identify appropriate providers and facilities throughout your rehabilitation process. The goal is to provide you with the maximum capability to overcome barriers during your recovery journey.
